Tracing the history of Irish immigrants in New Orleans from the early 1800’s, against the backdrop of the rich cultural mix that makes up New Orleans today –– Native American, French, Spanish, Haitiian. Mary, a Co. Louth based artist and local history enthusiast, shares her personal perspective of New Orleans, visiting family, and relates first hand experiences of the sounds and tastes of a city alive with voodoo magic, Creole food, Cajun and Jazz music. She speaks about how the Irish are remembered in New Orleans for their role in digging canals, building the foundations of the city in the context of the more recent history of reconstruction post hurricane Katrina 2005.
